A 760 or an Alliance 700 1990

I am debating whether to purchase a 1990 760 GLE, with 127,000 miles, or a 1986 Renault Alliance ragtop, with 90,000 miles. Which car would be of better quality, and what would turn out better in the long run? I have heard many stories that Renaults are nothing but piles.
