Diagnosing a bad fuel relay 200 85

How do I do this? I have a hunch that this is the reason why my engine cuts out and lurches and then won't restart unless I say some prayers. Afterwards it might run fine for a minute or even a half hour. In any case, my 85 240 is parked and I'm not driving it until I figure what is wrong. I have a feeling that the fuel relay might be the culprit due to the intermittency of the problem. Fuel filter was changed this year and the problem started just after I filled up the tank with a few gallons of gas. Could it be something in the gas maybe?

Please help!
