First of all, I would just like to thank the board for the quick words of wisdom on my problem. I have decided to replace the head gasket myself. At this moment, the head is off. Also, the head is 500 miles away, and when I go home next weekend, I hope I can finish the job.
All the exhaust manifold nuts came off easily (thank god for B'laster), and the worst part was the head bolts, which were stubborn, but all came out ok.
I have a question now about the block. It looks like there are some kind of sleeves in the head bolt holes (in the block). What are these? The one furthest back, and on the exhaust side, is poking out of the bolt hole, and won't tap back in. It looks like it moves around a little, but doesn't go into the block. (It sticks up about 2 mm) The rest of them sit flush, or recessed in the block. Is this cause for concern?
I guess that's it for now. I hope I can get some decent weather this weekend.
Thanks for the help!
