Hello Everyone,
I am re-installing my clutch on my 5 speed 740GLE. I had to remove my flywheel as I replaced my 1988 motor with a 1990 motor. I have a round metal plate (approximately 1cm+ thick)with 8 holes & a thinner metal plate (approximately 2mm thick)that is curved at the edges. If I place the thicker metal plate on the flywheel & then the thinner one, then bolt all three (including flywheel) to the engine, the clutch does not sit flush with the flywheel. When I attempt to turn the clutch, by hand, with it in contact with the flywheel, it comes in contact with the heads of the bolts. I have the clutch turned the correct way.
My question is, do I need the thicker metal plate in order to properly install the flywheel?
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks,
nic
