replace turbo on 740 wagon? 700 1987

I'm currently looking at a 1987 turbo wagon. The good news is that the car is relatively cheap ($1700) and in exelent condition. The bad new is that the turbo is gone. I was wondering how hard it would be to replace the turbo myself rather than taking it to a shop and having them do it. Does anyone have experience with this. Is it worth it. Your input would be greatly appreciated
