Questions about buying a 240 wagon. 200 1986

Hello and thanks to all that take the time to answer my questions :-)

I am considering buying my 2nd Volvo. THe car in question is a 86 240DL wagon with 145K Miles, leather, body and interior in fair condition.

The problems I noted was that the tranny is leaking alittle near the 2 screens towards the back of the trans, the blower motor is not working, but the seller says he blew the fuse when he was putting in the new stereo but putting ina new fuse did not help, the power steering reservoir is covered in fluid as well and was low on fluid. There was some oil on the side of the drivers side of the head and the seller says he spilled oil when ouring oil in....probably a lie!!! The A/C compressor did turn on and spun some, but then quit, perhaps because the system is low on freon? Tires were ok, supsension seems ok and I like the car overall...especially as it is hard to find a volvo wagon here in southern Indiana.

The car drove well although it didn't purr like my other 240.

He was asking $2000 and I got him down to $1500 after a mechanic guy I know said he could do the blower motor and trans seals for about $500.

Lastly the car has a "Salvage/Junk Title that was first issued in 1995 and has had 2 other such titles since. I am not sure as to the implications of having such a tile. The rest of the carfax title search came up clean.

Basically I don't trust the seller, but still think the car might be good buy at $1500.

Can someone offer some insight? Again many thanks in advance!

Mark
