loud humming buzzing at 4000 rpms 700 1989

at arround 4000 rpms or driving at parkway speed there is a loud like buzzing or humming sound. im not sure what could cause this but it sounds like its coming from the area where the cat and tanny is ? any suggestions and also what maintenance should be done to a 1989 740 gle 16 valve with 102,542 miles on it?
