Some of you may recall my past posts regarding my 960 from hell. It had intermittant rough idles, and was showing misfire codes in the ECU. After taking it to the dealer three times for diagnosis, and each time , they said it needed a new engine wire harnesss, I ponied up the $1200.00 and had them put a new harness in. The best part was the next day it was back to its old tricks and running like crap. So, back to the dealer to chew some &%*#@, and they say it has to be the ECU. A $965.00 part! So, I politely ask what can be done in light of the $1200.00 I just flushed. They take a 96 960 off the used car lot and put its ECU in my 960, and I drive it home. I am instructed to drive it for two weeks and if it does not fault, they will put a new ECU in my 960 for $700.00, with no labor for the two week trial or intallation of the new ECU. So, its been one week and no problems. So, it must have been the ECU the whole time. Why could these numbnuts not have figured that out three months ago?!
