5 speed shaft seal leak 2nd time 200 1989

On my '89 240 wagon with the manual 5 speed the shaft seal appears to be leaking again. It was replaced about a year ago. Clutch slips and there is fluid around the housing. Has anyone experienced this problem more than once? I plan to pull the transmission again over the next weekend or two. But I'm not sure what I can do differently? Only thing I'll do for sure is order the shaft seal from the dealership rather than the import parts house. They're probably the same but . . . Any suggestions or opinions will be appreciated, I'd rather be spending my weekends restoring other Volvos not replacing the same part.
