Installation of Center Gauge Cluster 200 82

Hi Guys,

I have the opportunity to purchase (and install) a center gauge cluster unit complete from a 85 240 (GL model), as a change out for my stock DL cluster unit that contains the large clock, speedometer, gas and water temp gauges, etc. The positive points that make this interesting are that 1) the "new" unit from the 85 GL has the large stock tachometer already in place; and 2) the speedometer is in good working order and has many fewer miles on it ("new" speedo = 150 k+ on the odometer, while my speedo = 265k + miles). Which is to say that my old cluster has no tachometer, and the speedometer (and cable) will probably have to be replaced sometime soon.

The question is: How straightforward is it to substitute the new cluster (from the 85 240 GL) for my old cluster (82 242 -- with the Chrysler ignition system)? Are there any problems or incompatibilities that I should know about before proceeding with this project? Thanks for your comments. Hope all is well.

Regards, David Smith
