Well, here's the problem: I can see oil on top of the water pump. It looked to me like it might be the cam cover gasket so I replaced it. I added small amounts of gasket sealer in the corners and around the first bolt holes where the camshaft goes through just like the picture in the Bentley book. Afterwards it looked the leak was worse. I tightened the cover nuts as tight as I dared and the leak seemed a little better but I am still using 1/2 quart every 600 miles or so and like I said there is still oil showing up on top of the water pump. Sunday, I redid the gasket and used more gasket sealer in the same areas and now the leak is (if anything) worse than before. What am I doing wrong? Are there better gaskets available? Should I use alot more gasket sealer or install the gasket with no sealer at all? BTW, the flame trap, breather box, and all hoses are new so I don't think crankcase pressure is the problem. The front seals were all professionally done in January but I have had this leak all along.
