How hard is replacing steering rack? 200 1983, 1990

I need a new steering rack in my 1983 240 wagon. I can easily get a good used one, and it *seems* to be a straightforward job in the books. Is this something an amature can tackle in a weekend or two? If so, then I need to do the same thing on my 1990 240 wagon before too long
