roaring like a truck! 200 75

Our trusty DL sedan runs quiet and sweetly around town but she roars like a truck between about 90-110 kmh (55-70 mph??). Above that it sings along,much quieter, spinning rather fast it seems with the 3-speed auto (no o/d fitted). Assuming this was exhaust resonation, I had the rear muffler and all pipes renewed up to the manifold at Midas (yes, they're in Australia too!). Disappointingly, this didn't help the noise problem. It's not accompanied by any particular vibration and appears to come more from the lhs of the engine area. What can it be? Fan? Tailshaft? Its so loud as to make highway driving impossible- you're either way below or above the legal limit.
