Amm Broken??? 200 86

My wagon starts but then just dies. Removing the wire harness from AMM and it idles ok. I got a 2.8-3.0 ohm reading when spec. is 3.5-4.0 ohm. Does this mean the AMM needs to be replaced? It was replaced 100,000 miles ago by the previous owner. What causes these to go bad? A corroded 25 amp fuse under hood?? If needed should I buy new or rebuilt?? Replace anything else? Thanks All!
