auto tranny on '89 740Ti.... power rating? 700 1989

is this the AW71? how many BHP is the transmission on this car good for? i just bought an '89 740 Turbo, as a project car... after i fix the front-end damage (low-speed incident with a telephone pole), I plan on going to stage 2 mods... wondering if i need a new tranny (and connecting rods) after the 240HP mark. I'd rather have a manual tranmission.. but unsure if I can afford the swap (being a 16 year old high-school student)
