Transmission went out...which trans can I put in 200 1982

Well on my way back up to MD my transmission went out. At least thats what I think. First, second and third gears just make my car jump like when you first learn how to drive stick but the car doesn't stall. Anyhow I wanted to make sure that any m46 would work on an 82 DL. Like from a 240 turbo or 86 240.
