Thanks guys, Bushing tool works great! 200 1986

I have officially made my own rear trailing arm bushing tool:

http://www-ese.fnal.gov/People/wilcer/volvo_trailing_arm_bushing_tool.htm

It works great.. we pulled two bushings in under a minute and put them back in (on our test rear end) even quicker.

That thing kicks some serious butt.

And total cost (including a sanding wheel that I wore down) is still under 20 dollars.

And this tool is strong enough to do SEVERAL cars.. the only part you'd wear out are the bolt and nut (under 5 dollars here)

My observations about this tool:

Make sure the pusher is the size of the bushing, so when you install a bushing with it, it will meet up at the edge of the thing (mine is made to spec, but is a bit too small)

Use liquid wrench brand lube when removing.. These bushings came right out.

And an impact wrench is your friend.

I recommend this tool to everyone who wants to save some serious money.

I got a rear suspension kit (all 10 bushings + urethane torque rod bushings) for 80 dollars.

and thanks to this tool, the job will hover around 100 dollars total vs. whatever you have to pay at the volvo shop.

plus the tool is strong enough to do many cars.

Thanks to everyone who helped in the tool's invention :)

Luke
