Dash turn indicators stay lit 140-160 73

As soon as they key goes to position II, both turn indicators on my dashboard light up. The exterior bulbs do not.

Normally, I would suspect a grounding problem. However, these bulbs do not ground directly. According to the wiring diagram, current passes from the switch to the bulb, through a diode, and on to the flasher.

Since thereis no glow at the exterior bulbs, I suspect current is backflowing through the flasher somehow. This means the diodes (#33 on your wiring diagram, if you're following along) aren't doing what they're supposed to.

Anybody know where these diodes are located? are they part of the cluster? what is their value?

Any other thoughts appreciated.
