Fuel Pump Power Supply 200 84

Hi All,

My son and I hade just commenced to drive back home after visiting friends 80 miles away yesterday when his 240 wagon stopped dead. Engine turned over strongly but just would not fire.

Great spark so went looking for fuel problems. Checked the usual fuel pump fuse and it was okay. Then I realised that I couldn't hear the fuel pump operating with the ignition turned on. We eventually hooked up a temporary power supply to it fromm the cigar lighter and it worked fine. It doesn't sound noisy. That got us all the way home (phew!).

Any ideas? My Haynes manual (not as good as Bentley which I haven't seen around here) circuit diagram shows a relay for the pump. Where might it be located as I thought it would be worth investigating? Any other possibilities other than faulty wiring/connections which I'm about to start investigating?

With thanks

Laurie
