Hi,

I am a FWD Volvo owner, and am interested in purchasing a used 240. I want to go with a 4cyl w/ Turbo, preferably a coupe. I saw an 84 240Turbo coupe today, and I really liked them. Since I do not know too much about the RWD models, I want to hear some opinions. Which year was the best for the 240Turbo? I heard something about 85 being the last year for the turbo, and that the 85 was the only one with intercooler. How reliable are the 4-cyl turbo engines? Are they easy to work with? I plan on modifying it a bit, so how much expensive are parts? Can complete engines be found at junkyards? Are interiors readily available from junkyards, if the one I buy is in bad condition? How expensive are body panels? Basically, I need a run down as to what I should expect from the car, and how easy it is to work with them. I've heard from 2 people now that some 240's have been sold for less than 1K, with little or no work to be done to them! Please shed some light to a FWD owner willing to venture in the RWD world :-) Thanks.
