auto trans not shifting to 4th 200 1990

Hello Brickboard, viva Volvo ...just learned of this site this afternoon and have been looking through for some info....on the 240 tranny. My 4 speed trans is not shifting into 4th until it gets nice and warm. During winter it takes long, sometimes as long as half an hour; summertime is usually 10 to 15 minutes. Once reaching 4th, she shifts wonderfully. I've pressed in the switch on my shifter while in fourth (forcing a shift back down to 3rd) and she downshifts fine. So, the solenoid is working correctly, no(?). Could it then be the OD relay? Is it behind the glove comparment? Thanks to all for any help. George
