Dash and Climate control 700 1988

I've got an 88 740gle with a cracked dash and a tricky heat/AC control panel. I want to upgrade to the 92 model's dash, including instrument cluster and newer climate controls. Anybody know if this is simply a matter of swapping parts?

It looks to me that the parts would just bolt right in, though I am concerned about the back end things like wiring for the warning lights and for the heater control switches.

Thanks in advance for any advice or opinions!
