Radio Frozen with "CODE" 900 1995

My radio is frozen with word "CODE". It does not switch off. The antena stays up. Anyone have any suggestion?. I purchased this used car recently. I made the mistake of punching in wrong code 3 times and it went into OFF mode. Someone in this board recommended leaving the key in 1st position for 2 hours and mentioned CODE will comeup so I can punch in the correct code. When it came out of OFF mode, it froze in CODE mode and does not allow me to enter the code or shut the radio off.
