Some introductory comments:
About a month ago I became the owner of a 1988 740 Turbo. It is a beautiful car, we have named it "The Gilded Meatball" because it is gold in color. It only had 93,000 miles, had always been garaged, never had food or children in it (!) and was very well-cared for. Now it has to spend the nights outside.
The same week we also bought a 1988 240 GL. It is gold like the 740. We named it "The Gilded Meatball 2." It is not as pristine as the 740 but still quite nice.
I had decided on Volvo after researching cars awhile. I have always loved and owned Volkswagens except for once when I lost my senses and got a Fiat.
My question is this: In the big Meatball (740) there is this constant high-pitched, kind of whistling sound inside when the engine is on. It seems like it comes out of the glove compartment. Ha! I was wondering if it had something to do with the turbo. Because I love the car I can live with this sound but I have been wondering what it is and should I be concerned about it.
Thanks for any help you all can offer.
