R-134a A/C compressor-high side tap 900 1994

My '94 960 is low on freon. The clutch won't stay on the compressor. I'd like to add Freon and test for a leak. I have gauges and freon, but can't seem to find the high-side tap. It appears to be on the back of the compressor. Is this correct ? If so, there is no way to get there between the aluminum lines going to an from the compressor. Is there a special extension that I need to get to this tap. Also, shouldn't the freon lines be insulated, the high pressure cold line ? All A/C is factory.

Thanks in advance.....
