Volvo wants $ 80 something to $60 something for the "vacuum operated" valve

IPD has them now for $48-49.

I've done the non-vacuum valve replacement $45-50 and while it is less prone to failure, the vacuum valve does work to maintain a more constant temp.

The labor is really about the same. Newstyle kit also replaces one hose.

One way or the other, you should fix it. BTW, take out the drivers seat first.
