I bought this car ('69 122), along with a couple of boxes of parts, about 5 years ago. Over the last year I noticed the brake pedal slowly migrating toward the floor when held down and assumed a leaky master cylinder. The parts box had a rebuild kit in it so a couple of weeks ago I pulled it apart. Noticed some pitting inside, not too major, and so did a very light hone to clean it up, then put the new parts in. This resulted in very little improvement, but more than adequate braking. Yesterday, though, the situation became much worse. I had to pump the pedal several times to get pressure; even then the foot hit the floor. It has plenty of fluid and when I looked at the master cylinder I saw brake fluid all over the reservoir and the cylinder itself. It seems to be spewing fluid out the cap. What could make this go bad so fast? Was the kit too old and the rubber rotted? (Did not seem to be). More important--how do I fix it? This is the dual system and the master cylinder is no longer available. This is a daily driver and for some reason having no brakes makes me nervous....
