Where do I stick the floor jack under the car to get it up in the air for both the front and rear so I can use the jack stands?

I'm sorry if this is a very basic question. I'll be the first to admit I'm no formula 1 mechanic.

For the last few weeks I had been using the spare tire jack ( hehe ) because I didn't have the money.
