Ian,

"Watercooled" refers to the turbocharger itself, in particular the addition of coolant lines running to and from the the center cartridge (which are absent from older, non-watercooled turbochargers).

"Intercooled" refers to the turbo's charge air hose system. The intercooler is the passive heat-exchanger (a.k.a. "radiator") mounted in between the air hoses running from the turbo outlet to the intake manifold. It cools the super-hot charge air before it's routed back into the intake manifold.

All 700 series Turbos were intercooled, but early models were not originally watercooled. No 240 Turbos were originally watercooled, but later models were intercooled.
