With Rob Kuhlman's help Saturday, I mananged to yank a complete AC system w/ power steering pump out of an '85 244 with a B230F engine.
I have it mostly mounted now in my '84 244GL with the B23F, needing only to drop in the spare condenser, new reveiver/dryer and connect the hoses.
My questions:
1. Oil for the Compressor. I see an access plug for the oil on the top of this York/Borg-Warner (mfg. by Diesel-Kiki) unit. Can I just drip feed the oil into there? How much? 2oz?
2. I have R12 in 12 ounce cans. I think the entire system takes about 3 pounds, correct?
3. How can I DIY the deep vacumm needed to evacuate the moisture from the system? (I do have an air compressor and saw vac units for about $30 which run from compressed air)
4. I think I'd like to replace all the seals (o-rings) right now. Are these sold as "kits" with specific sizes needed?
5. Is there some way to leak test the evaporator and consenser before I install them into the car?
6. Anything else I should know about?
