Turbo Leakage/ Replacement Source 700 1985

I just purchased a 1985 745Ti with 181k miles on it. All documentation leads me to believe that the turbo is original. The car puts out a black cloud of smoke when I got on the freeway to bring it home. I looked in the piping between the turbo and the intercooler, and the pipe is coated in oil on the inside. Is it time for a new turbo? I have looked at the cartriges from iPd, but are there any other options?
