A few days ago, the cruise wouldn't engage when I pressed the little button(I tried it more than a few times, holding it in, pressing it hard, using the "resume" slide switch instead of the "set" button -- nothing).

On a whim, I pulled over and turned the engine off. I re-started and pulled back into traffic, and then the cruise worked on the first try. The car had been sitting unused over the weekend that time. This has happened twice since then, after short trips.

Any thoughts or insights appreciated, thanks in advance.
