when it comes to engine oil, cooler is NOT better!!!

install an engine oil temperature gauge and do a "dry" run loaded up

and trailered. if the oil temperature consistently and constantly is

over 212 F or about 100 C then a cooler maybe wise.(always use a 70 C

thermostat in the oilcooler sandwich adapter )

today's oil are very capable of dealing with sustained hi temps.

too low an engine oil temp will encourage oil contaminations and

oil wear (and in turn engine wear), you need some heat (trailer or not)

to boil out the junk in the oil.

transmission oil on the other hand does very well as things get cooler.

engine and trans coolers on Yankee cars/trucks is just a bandaid on

poor design and good for dealers bottom line.(some exceptions of course)

trans oil temp gauge is a nice thing to have too.
