Radiator fan & AC 900 94

Is the radiator fan supposed to run whenever the A/C is on in my '94 940? Mine doesn't, however it does cycle on & off via the temp switch in the radiator core. My car doesn't overheat at all even tho I'm in hot, sticky Nashville. If the fan is supposed to run when the A/C is on, where do I start to look? I can't find the info in the very limited Haynes 940 manual & can't find any info here. Maybe I need to look harder:) Thanks as always.
