Re: Rust under my feet 240-260 84

ICQ>

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but my experience with 2 240 wagons ('79 and '82)is that once they really start rusting, there is not much that can be done to stop it. Then again, I live in upstate NY where the snow removal method of choice by the highway department is 100% rock salt. I would get the car up on a rack as soon as you can and really look over the under carrage and take an inventory of the rust damage. With this info., you should have an idea if it is worth putting any money into the car. With all the various problems, leaks, and battle scars you mentioned, it just may be time to pop rivet some cookie sheets to the floor pans, and just drive it. It is not uncommon for the body to rust off a perfectly good running engine on the older 240's. I wish Volvo did a better job rust proofing on them.
