A/C High Side Port 700 1989

Can anyone tell me where the high side charging port is on a 1989 760 Turbo? I'm thinking it might be the on the little muffler doodad under the fender liner but I'm not certain. Also, does that muffler doodad actually provide a useful function? I've never seen one on any other car before.
