Back in September I posted a message about a problem with cold startups. It took about four starts before the engine would not stall. Before the problem started, I had cleaned the throttle body so that should have been OK. I then checked or replaced air control valve, fuel pump check valve, engine temp sensor, and vacuum leaks including around injectors, following Bentley manual or suggestions from others on Brickboard. None helped, and situation went into a holding pattern. I recently managed to correct the problem by installing a used AMM. Starts on first crank now and stays strong. My daughter who drives the car says that it runs smoother as well. I measured resistances of 3.2 and 156 for the platinum wire and idle potentiometer, respectively, on the old AMM. These are close to or within specs; 3.2 is just a tad low. Allison, in response to my original post, had a similar start problem for a while and suggested the AMM as a remote possibility. Not so remote in my case. Anyway, problem solved, and my thanks to all who contributed to my education. Perhaps, recounting this will be helpful to someone else. Merry Christmas.
