odometer swap; 760 to 240? 200 83

What are the chances that the odometer, or even the odometer drive gear from my 760 parts car will fit the 240? The speedo works, odo doesn't. From all acounts here, the plastic gear is broken. I don't really need the practice of taking them both apart if someone knows that it won't work. Both cars are 83's, both diesel.
