Woe is me, IPD Tool Broke in Tailshaft housing! 700 1989

Your technical help is hearby requested,

I attempted to replace the tailshaft bushing/seal with IPD parts and their rental bushing removal tool that allows this to be done quickly and easily without removing the tailshaft housing. The removal tool didn't function quite the way I had imagined. The puller's center bolt got tighter and tighter until it sheared off about two inches from the bolt head. But wait, it gets worse...

I removed the tailshaft housing and discovered the removal tool shaft is wedged into the tailshaft end bolt hole and I can't get it out. There were wire lacing threads around the hole so I don't know if my tranny is toast or not. IPD was closed by the time I got this far.

My question is if anyone has any suggestions for removing the bolt without further damage and if you think the tranny is still usable. The car is a 1989 760 Turbo wagon with an AW-71 tranny.

Don Foster, John Sargent, et al, your thoughts would be appreciated. My first discussions with IPD have been very reasonable. I see this as an opportunity for them to make huge gains in product support reputation if they are as good as I've been led to believe.

Thanks for any input or comments.
