16 valve just crapped out...Swap to 8 valve n/a motor? 700 1989

Hello,

Well the pistons and valves had their first and last embrace today while I was driving to work. Brand new oil pump too-sheared off like a dry twig-go figure. Anyway I'm not going to rebuild the head because I'm not going to get burned again. So has anyone tried to swap an 8 valve n/a motor into a formerly 16 valve car? I would imagine it could be done since both engines have all of the same sensors in the same places...could you even use the stock harness (with the 8 valve computer of course) or would you have to change the whole thing over? I know that you can't use the same belt driven accesories, but that can be dealt with. I have a few B230F and B23F blocks laying around so I would like to just rebuild one and drop it in in place of the 16 valve. The reason I mentioned the B23F block is because if I'm going to rebuild the engine it might as well have a strong bottom end...I'd appreciate any ideas as my back is against the wall here.

Thanks,

Matthew C. Hall
