Why would reservoir blow on new radiator? 900 92

I just installed a new radiator on my 940. The old one had a cracked top hose port. (Some of you might remember I posted my concerns about a new port that came with my new radiator) Well the plastic plug to the not used temp. sender hole held up well as the side blew open today while my wife was in the drive through lane. The radiator and temperatures had been just fine for the three days the new one was in.

What would cause the side to blow out like this? It blew on the passenger side between the trans. lines. Also, I checked coolant level last night and it was good.
