undercoating 200 1987

I have an '87 240, no plugs in the door jams so I'm figuring no rustproofing. I heard somewhere that you should spray linseed oil so that it soaks into the factory undercoating, then spray on some kind of undercoating--is this two-step approach a good idea, and if so, what brand of spray-on undercoating (ideally in aerosol cans) would be best? Suggestions much appreciated.
