Hello all,
I am new to the Volvo world, but not to matters automotive. I am a pretty fair shade tree mechanic and body man, having overhauled American engines and transmissions along with more "normal" types of maintenance. I am considering buying a 1993 740 Turbo wagon. I have not been under the hood or the car, nor have I driven it yet. On the outside, it looks to have been very well cared for. It is a one owner car with 133000 miles. All maintenance was performed at a Volvo dealership. The asking price is 9000 US, but I'm confident an offer of 6500-7000 would be entertained. Now I am fully aware of how long a Volvo will last with proper care and servicing, but I am curious as to what drivetrain problems might arise in a car of this vintage. This car will be used by my wife as a daily driver and I need it to be a low manitenance vehicle. I am not worried about normal wear and tear items like brakes or suspension parts. If you have any input or advice, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Thanks!
