Are resonators directional? When I replaced the Y pipe in my exhaust a couple of years ago I kept the resonator and a couple of feet of pipe on one side because it was in really good condition ( the Y pipe had broken at the Y). Now the 2nd resonator has a hole in it and I'm thinking of using this one that I have but I would like to put it in backwards to make use of the couple of feet of good pipe that is there. I don't see any direction arrows on the resonator.

Another option is to remove the 2nd resonator completely and just put a straight pipe in there - has anyone done this? - is it loud? - backpressure changes?
