wailing blower tortures my eardrums. pull fuse? 200 1983 rustbucket DL

So my slowly dying blower motor sometimes begins to wail like a banshee, even though I have the fan speed dial all the way counterclockwise, and I have the climate control slider slid full left to "off". This intermittant, incessant, wailing is a killer.

I do not have time to take apart this car, so I live without a blower when I drive it.

I seem to remember seeing a diagram of the fuses in the owners manual, and one may have said "heater blower" or something like that. If I pull this fuse out, will it keep the blower motor form screeching at me? Will anything else quit working if this fuse is AWOL?
