turbo running rich when warm 200 83

Have an 83 244 turbo, intercooled, automatic. Seems to run OK until engine is warm then runs very rich. Seems to get richer when trying to accelerate faster, limiting top speed to about 60 mph. Blows very black smoke out tailpipe. If it were an older car with a carb I would say the choke was stuck. What could be the possible causes and how can I trouble shoot the problem?
