I replaced a leaking heater core in my 740 in June 2000, Late June/July of this year the new heater core ($ 279) started to leak. Since I did not need the heat I by-passed the core and put off the job of replacing this part until now. On going to the dealer and talking with Volvo’s Customer Service people I have found out that since I did not bring the part back with in 12 months of purchase it is out of warrantee and they will not replace it. I have talked to the dealer that sold me the part, the Volvo’s customer service personnel Dorthia (customer service supervisor) and Pat Sacus (supposedly reports to the president) and have been told that this is a business decision not to extend the warrantee and they can not make an exception. BTW Ford replaced a replacement power steering pump 15 months after replacement.
Am I SOL or have I missed an other way to deal with this? If nothing else I don’t think I will ever by a Volvo replacement part again when an after market part is available.
