Question about OE Thermostats 200 87

I just replaced my radiator and hoses on my 240. I was reading the FAQ section and it appears that the wiggle valve should be pointed up? What does it mean by up? I didn't know about this when re-assembling so I guess I'm going to have to do this again just to make sure. Car is running cool though. Thanks
