Fuel Pump Relay 200 1989

I am about to replace my third Fuel Pump Relay (FPR)in the same number of months. When the FPR is new the car runs great. Then after a week or two, the car has intermittent moments where the engine cuts out. Usually less than a second in duration. The frequency increases until the car stops completely or I replace the relay. HELP!
