changing brakes on 1988 740 GLE (Bendix) 700 88

I have a 1988 740 GLE which has Bendix brake calipers. I can't remove the covering for the brake pads to change my brakes. The cover for the Bendix brake calipers looks like a rectangle that's bent with two holes perpendicular to the long axis of the brake caliper. Help!
